Spymaster on Twitter

Hi folks, a few of you may well have seen my previous post a week or so ago about the great and addictive little game on twitter, called Spymaster.

Now, you’ll forgive me for thinking that it might get boring after a while, indeed I was getting into a little cycle, play all my energy, leave it for half an hour, then play all my energy, amass $$, or ££ (depending on your chosen agency). But then I started getting better, playing every half hour increased my levels, I’m now at level 23 for The_Assassin and Level 25 on my other account.

It’s only really on these last 5 levels when things have been getting good, I didn’t take much for the assassinations of others, as I felt I needed to progress with my experience on the tasks that were set, now I’m on tasks which require 45 points of your energy, you can Train Revolutionaries, Assassinate Diplomats, Steal Military Weapons or even Extract Defectors….. how cool – better than the previous…(Coerce a Mafia Boss and collect a Dead Drop)!

Of course, I learned during the various levels that there are unscrupulous opponents/spies out there who will assassinate from the word go… especially because I’ve got a cool name, and face it – I have – The_Assassin, how cool!?! so Learning the process, the ropes is difficult sometimes!

One thing you must do is protect your assets, obviously your cash is first, then second is your spymasters, so ensure you have enough of the defense items to cover all your spymasters!

Cash – deposit in the bank! – nobody can get it in there other than you!

It took a while for me, so just remember – you need a fair old whack before you can open an account! – nigh on £500k

So – Ensure you build up your portfolio of Safe Houses, get the £1 million property, AND get the rest, as every 5 minutes you WILL get something, it might not be a lot, but if you are sleeping and not playing and don’t have safe houses, you aren’t gaining dosh… so have properties, if you do, then you will awake in the morning with a good bit of dosh – the most I’ve awoke to is approximately £250k and that was with no failed assassinations on me, so that was pretty good going!

Now, I know that people have been spending ages on Spymaster, so don’t let it rule your life… (just your online one)! haha! – credit to@ucana422, who has been playing 25 hours with 3 hours kip – you rock… ya nutter!

Examples of Level 25 armoury : M107 Sniper Rifle and for Defense : an ARMOURED CAR! – one serious piece of kit at around £200k as well..!

The Sniper rifle is around the £16k mark

Remember though, that the best way forward is to get the same number of these as you have SPYMASTERS in your group… and watch your Attack and Defense sum rise….

Maybe I am on my way to being the best Spymaster…

Hell, I got a mention from the CEO of spymaster on his twitterfeed about my initial spymaster post, so I must be on the right track! (@chrisabad)

Just one thing though – don’t attempt to assassinate any of the founders, you could end up with serious crap on your tail….!

Wow, what can I say, I wrote a wee walkthrough of my signup to Spymaster on the blog a couple of days ago, and the CEO no less, added a comment to his own twitterfeed (@chrisabad) : “Nice little #spymaster walkthrough for newbies” and a link to the blog…. Now it’s not very often that I get recognition for something I’ve done, so to be honest – I really am – I’m over the moon!!! – from the CEO.. .wow..

(I’m now on Level 8, played it a few times now), whilst I’m not proficient, it’s certainly a bit of fun, even if twitter was fun beforehand, it’s certainly now even more fun that it has this funky game – and one that I endorse too!

I now have 3 Safe Houses… woohoooo – they are actually generating money on the side too!

Recruit Recruit Recruit…. hmm, now I just need more friends on twitter… anyone?

Twitter Game Spymaster

So… Twitter has some Games, this is the first one I’ve joined, It’s called Spymaster an off-shoot website by the tweeple that bring you iList, inc.

The First thing you need to do when you get signed up is choose an organisation for your Spymaster Game, is it going to be: CIA? MI6? or the FSB? Let’s look at them in more detail:

CIA: The Americans use their money and prestige to win over defectors, so therefore you obtain 10% more money than other starting groups.
MI6: The British rest between the superpowers, giving them unmatched speed, so therefore you obtain 10% more energy than the others
FSB: Russian Cold War projects and extreme physical training make the FSB strong, so therefore you get 10% more health.

Right, so that sounds reasonable… (I choose MI6) next up is choosing your notifications… if you choose ALL the notifications:

Spymaster Notifications

Assassinating a user
Wiring money to another spymaster (reply)
Securing a new Safe House
Spymaster level increase
Performing a task
Failing to assassinate a user
Depositing money in my Swiss Bank account
Buying new items from the Black Market

if you choose them all, then you get 8% of your Total Money increased.

Then it’s Continue and Game starts….
During this process for me – someone tried to assassinate me, but failed! #spymaster – denied !! haha! (@sjalan on twitter)

Well – where to now I think….. hmm, it turns out that all of your followers are now Spies.
and it would seem that 10 of them are already playing Spymaster Game on Twitter, superb… these 10 people are called Spymasters, and my current aim is to gain more of these.
I seem to be starting on £2156.82 – Hey, at least it’s in ££’s…! (good start in my opinion)!

Anyways, my tasks : While they’ve started you with enough money to buy a knife or a vest from the Black Market, you’ll need to perform tasks to make money and progress through the levels. With the money, you can buy items on the black market for tasks or for assassination plots.. woohooo… AND: Once you have weapons, you can plot assassinations against other real spymasters in your own spy ring or in others. Attacking them will set them back and you may even have the chance to steal their assets

It of course dangles a wee carrot, – you can be “perhaps” the greatest spymaster of them all…. I wonder…

Then you need to buy stuff, of course… I bought Makarov PM, 9x18mm (as you do…) then I done my first 2 tasks..
Coerce a Mafia Boss and collected a Dead Drop… then eek……

My status gets updated on twitter… now to find out how to lose that…

Hmm, nothing strikes me as – remove status updates… aarghh.. what have I done… I’m starting to worry – as I don’t want my twitter stream to be an endless cascade of #spymaster this and #spymaster that…. however, I’ve found it – it’s down the bottom of the screen! phew – panic over…

Now… the Assassination of someone on twitter – result – congratulations, however – you only wounded them
When you click Start Assassination, you are presented with a rather funky flash type screen when you are attempting your plot, then it automatically refreshes you to your result..
In my case here it was good: – You were also able to take some of your opponent’s assets; see the overall gains and itemized gains in the rightmost column.

What next, well, it’s really just there to have a wee bit of fun…
Keep doing your tasks and your energy levels go down….
I currently only have 15 for my energy level..

And now I’ve just realised that your energy level is increased every 5 minutes…!
It looks like it’s 25 energy each 5 minutes… upto a total of 120…

To get to the next level you must gain:

So what next….

Safehouses in Spymaster

Safe Houses… superb, you can buy Safe Houses in Spymaster as well…
Ultimately they bring in funds on a regular interval, of course – associated with that is RISKS, as you can see – the lower you pay, the higher the risk of losing the income stream, the more you pay, the higher the income and the lower the risk…

Decisions Decisions Decisions

Wow – then there’s banks too, and not just any banks, SWISS Banks! – you can store your hard earned cash in these institutions, just like you would any bank, AND withdraw at any time too – which is a really cool feature. Another feature is that you can transfer funds to someone else, and they can do the same to you – nifty…

2 Hours of playing, and I’m on level 2 now, (that was around the point when I started to realise how to play it)!

Gravatar – The Icon / Avatar for everyone everywhere!

The Gravatar Logo

Gravatar, It’s the Globally Recognized Avatar System.
Basically – sign up on their website – Gravatar, and you can then upload an icon to their servers, with your name and email address.

What’s the point in this I hear you say? Well that’s the beauty of it, all you need to now do is post a comment on a blog or forum that supports Gravatar. WHEN you do this, the blog in question checks Gravatar to see if you are signed up, if you are – then the blog will bring through your Icon.

I guess this saves loads of time, and allows you to have a recognizeable icon everywhere you visit – Globally! – woohooooo Absolutely Amazing.

Avatars – this is what the icons are called.

That’s all well and good, however – you surely now need to create one? yes? Thought so!

If you haven’t got your own photoshop program then the best (that I certainly suggest) is MadAvatar

IF you have your own photoshop program, then make an image with 125px x 125px dimensions. Then you can just upload that to the Gravar system. The avatars are actually displayed at 80 x 80, so just quickly that your image doesn’t look out of place shrunk!

Another really funky function of the Gravatar System is that each Gravatar is rated with an MPAA – style age recommendation, which allows blog owners to control the content of the Gravatars displayed on their site, ps the Current level set for Craig | Dearden’s is set to Adult, so we can “potentially” see all levels! (I look forward to seeing them)!

Twitter tips, hints, do’s and don’ts

Tweetdeck A Twitter Client

Twitter, I find it great, however it’s hated and it’s loved. Whichever way you turn inevitably there is someone using it, what makes it interesting? I really don’t know, it’s one of those things which eludes me each time I use it. I actually “tweet” from 3 accounts and use tweetdeck as a client to access the twitter service. It looks as though the client is soon going to be skinnable, so I would recommend using it – hands down winner for any PC users out there. There are other clients for other systems – ie Macs – probably best to use Nambu I think, however – I’m not a tried and tested mac user!

So – on to those tips:

I can’t stress enough – don’t use Auto Responders, it’s a SOCIAL network, not an auto network, there is nothing more annoying.
Provide content, tweet on topic, be interesting, network with people – that means using the @ reply function, converse and of course enjoy it!
Re-Tweet, if you have 10 people following you, and one of those people find one of your posts interesting, they will (or should) Re-Tweet it, this means that your post will be seen to THEIR list of followers, and potentially it could go out to everyone in the “twitterverse”
following on from 3. Post things that are interesting. don’t spam, be nice, normal, and you will be re-tweeted!
Follow like minded people.
use effective #hashtags, ie don’t use the #golf hashtag when you are talking about your 5 a side football game earlier that night!
#FollowFriday and #FF – every friday seems to be the phenomenon called Follow Friday, this is a day that you can post to your list of followers who YOU find interesting, I’ve found quite a few people to follow with this method, and it’s great to increase your number of followers..
If you ONLY want followers, it’s not going to happen, unless you are a celeb, trust me it’s not going to happen.
Be active, if you aren’t talking/tweeting, what’s the point in following you?
Add yourself to the WeFollow directory, it’s a good place to find other like minded tweeple..

What about the Don’ts…

Don’t block people that are actually genuine people, only block spammers – especially the “here’s my webcam” type ones – if lots of people block, then the account will be suspended.
Don’t use Auto DMs, these are honestly – highly highly annoying, there’s nothing worse, if someone follows me and says what is it you do – they obviously haven’t bothered their rear end in actually looking at my profile at all.
Don’t spam!
There are loads of other “Don’t” out there – if you are a twitter user, then please, by all means leave a comment, and I’ll add it to the list.
